Rivian Assistant

Rivian is accelerating its autonomy roadmap with an Autonomy & AI Day, where it showcased vertically integrated hardware, software, and autonomy teams, introduced RAP1 as its first in-house custom chip, and rolled out Universal Hands-Free across more than 3.5 million miles for second-generation R1 vehicles in the US and Canada. The company also introduced Rivian Unified Intelligence as a common AI foundation and said Rivian Assistant should launch in early 2026 on all consumer vehicles, while R2 and RAP1 are expected to support future eyes-off and personal level 4 capabilities. In parallel, Uber plans to invest up to $1.25 billion through 2031 to help build a scaled autonomous fleet of Rivian R2 robotaxis exclusively on the Uber platform, with expected purchases of 10,000 vehicles and an option for up to 40,000 more in 2030.
